issue.

<span

Users
who
are running later versions of Windows will get several different
options for
different types of Safe Mode. For example, you may have options for
"Safe
Mode", "Safe Mode with Networking", and "Safe Mode with
Command Prompt". Below is a brief description of each of these
different
modes.

Safe
Mode

The
basic
Safe Mode option is usually what most users will want to choose when
troubleshooting their computer. This is the most basic Safe Mode option
and has
no additional support.

Safe
Mode with Networking

For
users
needing access to the Internet or the network they're connected to
while in
Safe Mode users may wish to choose this option. This mode is helpful
for when
you need to be in Safe Mode to troubleshoot but also need access to the
Internet so you can get updates, drivers, or other files to help
troubleshoot
your issue.

Safe
Mode with Command Prompt

This
Safe
Mode would also allow you to have access to the command line (MS-DOS
prompt).

(updated 12/3/09)

These instructions are for installing LogMeIn Free on a Windows XP computer using Internet Explorer. They should work on other similar operating systems (such as Windows 2000, Windows Vista and Windows 7) and with other web browsers (such as Mozilla Firefox), but the instructions might vary slightly. They are geared for installing LogMeIn Free to allow for remote troubleshooting, but should also work for installing to allow you to remotely access your own system.

NOTE: Remote Access to your system (by you or a remote technician) is only available when your system has an active connection to the Internet.

NOTE: These instructions deal with setting up a LogMeIn Free account and installing the software on the computer you want to access remotely. For instructions on how to access the computer remotely, refer to the KnowledgeBase Article: LogMeIn Free - Usage Instructions/Tutorial

Click on "LogMeIn Free"

* Alternatively, you can try to just browse to: https://secure.logmein.com/products/free/

Click the "Download PC version" button

Fill in the information requested:

E-Mail: <enter your email address>

Password: <enter a password>

Please Note: If you are going to be installing LogMeIn Free to allow someone else to remotely access and troubleshoot your system, you will need to provide them with this password initially - you can always change it later or disable LogMeIn later to remove such remote access capabilities - See Appendix B & Appendix C below

Please Note: It is recommended you choose a relatively strong/secure password here (i.e. a strong/secure password is one that is at least 8 characters long, isn't something familiar to yourself or found in the dictionary, and contains upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and possibly special characters/symbols (such as $, *, #, etc.)

Country: <enter your country - the default is United States>

I plan to use LogMeIn: <You can leave this set to "Personal use">

How did you discover LogMeIn?: <You can leave this as-is or select appropriate response>

Be sure to uncheck both checkboxes at the bottom of the page (above the "Continue" button) or else you will receive occasional emails from LogMeIn

Once you have entered all the information requested, click the "Continue" button

At this point, your account will have been created. At some point over the next few minutes you will receive 3 emails from LogMeIn: one requesting that you confirm your email address, one notifying you that a new computer has been added to your account (this will appear after we add the new computer in the steps below) and one notifying you that your LogMeIn subscription has changed (this will appear after you follow step 11 below). We will address those emails later in this tutorial

You will now be at your main account web page - click the "Add this computer" button and on the next page that loads, select "LogMeIn Free" and click the "Continue" button.

* This will proceed to start the installation process to allow remote access to the computer you are on currently

* If you are not on the computer that you want to remotely access, then stop here and when you are at that computer later, browse to http://www.logmein.com and log in using the email address and password you just created (it will ask you to verify your email at that point - you can skip that step by choosing "I will verify my email later" but it has to be completed within 5 days of the creation of your LogMeIn Account - which you created in Step 3) - you can then continue with this step and the rest of the tutorial

Depending on what web browser you are using, and how your security settings are set, this step might vary. After clicking the "Add this computer" link (and selecting "LogMeIn Free"), you might be prompted to allow a software application to run/download - you should allow this. Alternatively, you might be prompted to click something on the screen (such as a "Download Now" button) to start the installation. If you read the text on the screen, it should be specific to you and explain how you should start the download/installation process.

Once the installation begins, follow the prompts to proceed:

   * (The following explanations are for version 4.0.982 - newer versions might be slightly different)

Click Next at the first installation screen

Accept the "Terms & Conditions of Use" by clicking the "I Agree" button

Choose "Typical" and click Next

You can enter a new description or leave the default description (which is taken from your computer name) - when done, click Next

* Computer Access Code - If your computer already has user accounts with passwords that you use to log in, you will not be required to provide a "Computer Access Code" and will not see this step (see Appendix A below). If you do see this step, please create and enter a "computer Access Code" that is at least 8 characters long.

Please Note: It is recommended you choose a relatively strong/secure "Computer Access Code" (i.e. a strong/secure password/code is one that is at least 8 characters long, isn't something familiar to yourself or found in the dictionary, and contains upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and possibly special characters/symbols (such as $, *, #, etc.).

Please Note: If you are going to be installing LogMeIn Free to allow someone else to remotely access and troubleshoot your system, you will need to provide them with this "Computer Access Code" initially - you can always change it later or disable LogMeIn later to remove such remote access capabilities - See Appendix B & Appendix C below.

You can leave the default destination folder (unless there is some specific reason to change it) and click Next

Installation will now proceed.

(During installation, your screen/display might flicker and turn black for several seconds. If this occurs, it is a normal part of the installation and your screen/display will re-appear shortly)

When installation is completed, click the "Finish" button

Once the installation is complete, a LogMeIn dialog box will pop open. Unfortunately, due to what appears to be a bug (or perhaps a marketing ploy), even though you selected LogMeIn Free earlier, the installation uses LogMeIn Pro (we will be changing this later in this tutorial). You can close this dialog box using the "X" in the upper right hand corner of it.

You should also see the LogMeIn icon in your system tray on the lower right of your computer screen (the area with small icons next to the clock).

Now, return to the LogMeIn Free web page, and if prompted, click "After installation, view your list of computers" (unless of course you experienced a problem in your installation, in which case you would click "I need help with the installation") - you will be taken to the main LogMeIn Account page.

LogMeIn is now installed on your system, but there are some additional housekeeping tasks to take care of.

First, we need to change the subscription type of the account to Free:

Towards the right hand side of the screen (underneath your computer listing), there should be a link labeled "Properties" - click this link

Now click on the "Subscription" tab towards the top of the screen (under the big "Edit Computer" text)

Click the drop-down box next to "Available Subscriptions" and select "LogMeIn Free" (it should be the second choice down in the drop-down box) and then click the "Change subscription" button

Your LogMeIn Free subscription type is now being updated - wait about 3 - 5 minutes and then refresh the screen (this can usually be accomplished with the F5 button for Internet Explorer or the CTRL+R combination for Mozilla Firefox) - while the update is occurring the status of your computer on the web page will display "Updating subscription" and will not be selectable, once the update is complete the status of your computer on the web page will revert back to the normal green button, the "Updating subscription" notation will disappear, and it will be selectable once more.

Next, we have to confirm the email address on the account:

Go and check your email inbox (the inbox of the email account you used to sign up for LogMeIn Free)

You should have three emails there:

One from "LogMeIn.com Auto-Mailer <do-not-reply@logmein.com>" titled "LogMeIn - Please activate your account" - this email will be used to validate the email address associated with your account

One from "LogMeIn.com Auto-Mailer <no-reply@logmein.com>" titled "LogMeIn Account Notification - Computer added" - this email can be safely deleted

One from "LogMeIn.com Auto-Mailer <no-reply@logmein.com>" titled "LogMeIn Account Notification - Computer subscription changed" - this email can be safely deleted

Open the first email above and locate the section with the following text "To verify your account, simply click this link or copy and paste it into your web browser:"

Right below that text is a link - click this link to open a new web page

You should see a message stating that "Your account has been verified. Thank you for taking the time to complete the registration. Your LogMeIn account is now fully active."

* If you are prompted to log-in and don't see the message specified in step 11e above, then log-in again - it might also prompt you to select your email preferences once more (you can safely uncheck everything to ensure you don't receive any future emails from LogMeIn) and then on the next screen (which you can get to by following the prompts) it should confirm your validation.

You are now done with the installation & housekeeping processes. Congratulations!

* - Asterisks indicate information, alternate steps, or steps that might not be necessary depending on your computer's configuration

Appendix A - Creating Windows User Account for Remote Troubleshooting
    * This appendix will guide you through creating a windows user account to be used by a remote technician
when logging in via LogMeIn to troubleshoot your system - if you were not prompted for a Computer
Access Code in step 7e above, this process is required or the remote technician will not be able to access
        your system
    * You will need to provide the account credentials that you create below (username and password) to
        the remote technician

Go to the start menu and then the run command, enter "control userpasswords" (without quotations) in the run command dialog box, and click "OK" or hit enter - the User Accounts dialog box will open

* If you were unable to access the User Accounts dialog box by following the instructions in step 1 above, you can also access it by going to the start menu, clicking "Control Panel", and then selecting "User Accounts" (and then, if necessary, selecting "User Accounts" again under the "or pick a Control Panel icon" section)

Click "Create a new account"

Enter a name for the new account and click Next - you will need to provide this to the remote technician - suggestions include: remote1, remote, remotetech, remoteaccess, remote_tech, or remote_access.

Select "Computer Administrator" and click "Create Account"

Click on the newly created account under the section titled "or pick an account to change"

Click "Create a password"

Enter a password and then enter it again to confirm

Please Note: It is recommended you choose a relatively strong/secure password here (i.e. a strong/secure password is one that is at least 8 characters long, isn't something familiar to yourself or found in the dictionary, and contains upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and possibly special characters/symbols (such as $, *, #, etc.)

Please Note: If you are going to be installing LogMeIn Free to allow someone else to remotely access and troubleshoot your system, you will need to provide them with this password initially - you can always change it later or disable LogMeIn later to remove such remote access capabilities - See Appendix B & Appendix C below

You can choose to enter a password hint or just skip it.

When you are finished, click the "Create Password" button

You can now close the "User Accounts" dialog box - you have successfully created a new Windows User Account

Appendix A Supplement - Deleting/Changing Password for Windows User Account used for Remote Troubleshooting
    * After remote troubleshooting on your system is complete, you might want to delete the user account you
created in Appendix A above or change the password so it is no longer accessible by anyone but you.
    * If you did not create a user account as specified in Appendix A above because you were prompted for a
Computer Access Code in step 7e above, you can ignore this appendix supplement.
    * Be EXTREMELY careful following these steps - if you delete the wrong account (such as the one you
use to log in to the system or an administrator account) you could end up causing damage to your system
or losing your data, preferences, and customizations - it is safer to change the password to one you know
if you are unsure about what account was used for remote troubleshooting.

Click on the account you created (in Appendix A) under the section titled "or pick an account to change"

Click "Delete this account" to begin the account deletion process (and refer to steps 5-7 below) or click "Change the password" to begin the password change process (and refer to steps 8-11 below).

If you clicked "Delete this account" - follow these steps, if not, see below

* Since this account should not have accumulated any files, you can safely select "Delete Files"

Confirm deletion of this account by clicking "Delete Account"

You can now close the "User Accounts" dialog box - you have successfully deleted the Windows User Account you previously created for Remote Troubleshooting

If you clicked "Change the password" - follow these steps:

Enter a new password and then enter it again to confirm

Please Note: It is recommended you choose a relatively strong/secure password here (i.e. a strong/secure password is one that is at least 8 characters long, isn't something familiar to yourself or found in the dictionary, and contains upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and possibly special characters/symbols (such as $, *, #, etc.)

You can choose to enter a password hint or just skip it.

When you are finished, click the "Change Password" button

You can now close the "User Accounts" dialog box - you have successfully changed the Windows User Account password for the remote troubleshooting account.

Appendix B - Disabling LogMeIn Access
    * After remote troubleshooting is complete, you may want to disable LogMeIn so that no one else is able
        to remotely access your system.

Locate the LogMeIn icon on your system tray (the system tray is the area of your screen in the lower right hand corner next to the clock) - the icon is a blue circle with several smaller white circles in increasing size on it - if you hover your mouse cursor over it, the text pop-up says "LogMeIn - Enabled and Online"

If you are unable to locate the icon, it is possible it is being hidden by your current system tray/taskbar preference. You should see an arrow towards the left end of the system tray pointing to the left - clicking this arrow will expand the system tray icons and you should now be able to locate the LogMeIn icon

Right-click on the icon and choose "Switch Off LogMeIn"

In the pop-up box that appears, choose "Yes"

LogMeIn will now disable itself and you will see a red X over the LogMeIn icon in the system tray

If you ever want to re-enable LogMeIn again, you simply need to right-click on the LogMeIn icon and select "Switch On LogMeIn"

Appendix C - Changing LogMeIn Passwords
    * Depending on your computer configuration, there is either an account password and a computer access
code associated with your LogMeIn, or an account password and a windows user account associated
        with your LogMeIn.

To change the account password:

Browse to http://www.logmein.com

Log in using your current email address and account password in the upper-right hand corner of the web page

Click the "Account" link at the top of the page

Click the "Change Password" link towards the top of the page

Enter your current password, enter a new password, and then re-enter the new password to verify - then click "Save"

You should see the following text: "Your password was changed successfully" - your account password has now been changed.

To change your Computer Access Code (only follow these steps if you are using a Computer Access Code and had previously set one up when installing LogMeIn):

Right-click on the icon and choose "Open LogMeIn..."

In the LogMeIn dialog box that opens, select the "Options" tab from the left hand pane.

On the right-hand side, click the "Change Computer Access Code..." button

Type a new computer access code and then re-type it to verify - then click "OK"

Please Note: It is recommended you choose a relatively strong/secure "Computer Access Code" (i.e. a strong/secure password/code is one that is at least 8 characters long, isn't something familiar to yourself or found in the dictionary, and contains upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and possibly special characters/symbols (such as $, *, #, etc.).

You should see a confirmation box pop-up that states "The computer access code has been successfully changed" - click "OK"

You can now close out of the LogMeIn dialog box that you opened in step 2b above.

To change the password on the Windows user account used for LogMeIn - refer to Appendix A Supplement above.

Appendix D - Uninstalling LogMeIn Completely

Uninstalling LogMeIn completely from your system can be done by simply navigating to the start menu, then the control panel, and then "Add or Remove Programs", then selecting LogMeIn from the list and clicking "Remove" - you might have to confirm you want to remove the software and/or follow prompts to remove the software completely. Once the software has been removed, you should restart your computer.

Check Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) Web Interface to make sure account is still active and doesn't need to be re-validated:

AT&T/Cingular: https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=mycingular

Verizon: https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw

Sprint: https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=sprint

T-Mobile: https://my.t-mobile.com/Login/

Re-Send Service Books to Blackberry device from BIS Web Interface

Re-register Blackberry device:

AT&T Blackberry Bold 9000:

Check data connection on Blackberry device - attempt to browse to a web site to see if it works

Make sure the Blackberry device has a strong signal in the current area

Reboot Blackberry device: remove battery (and SIM Card if applicable) from Blackberry device and keep out for 30 seconds - 1 minute before re-inserting and powering Blackberry device back on

Check to see if it is an issue with the email provider or Blackberry/cell provider (maybe see if the email provider is experiencing any difficulties, or if other people who use the email provider are still able to get email on their mobile device (most specifically on Blackberry, but knowing about iPhone, Exchange ActiveSync, etc. might help also))

maybe contact email provider to see if they are experiencing any issues (and more specifically - any issues with Blackberry devices or services)

maybe contact Blackberry/Research in Motion (RIM) to check if they outages or other problems that might be causing issue

Final Attempt at Resolution - (DO NOT Attempt this until you have exhausted all other options as it will delete all saved email off of the Blackberry device) : Delete email account off of BIS Web Interface and then re-add email account back on to BIS Web Interface (first be sure to note all details of email account)

(updated 12/3/09)

These instructions are for using LogMeIn Free on a Windows XP computer using Internet Explorer. They should work on other similar operating systems (such as Windows 2000, Windows Vista and Windows 7) and with other web browsers (such as Mozilla Firefox), but the instructions might vary slightly.

NOTE: Remote Access to your system is only available when your system has an active connection to the Internet and is turned on.

NOTE: You need to have already set up a LogMeIn Free Account and installed the LogMeIn software on the remote computer you want to access. For instructions on doing this, refer to the KnowledgeBase Article: LogMeIn Free - Installation Instructions/Tutorial

NOTE: Throughout this tutorial, there will be some terms used that might not be familiar to you. Here are some examples:
Remote Computer: this is the computer you are connecting to remotely. It is at a different physical location than you are at currently.
Local Computer: this is the computer you are using currently and are physically sitting at and typing on. It is the conduit that is allowing you to connect to your remote computer elsewhere via LogMeIn.

Browse to http://www.logmein.com

Enter your email address (username) and password in the login area (in the upper right hand corner of the web page) (see image above)

You might be prompted to save your email address (username) and password - only save this information if you are using your personal computer - DO NOT save this information if you are accessing your LogMeIn account from a public computer or one where you do not want this information saved locally.

You will now be at the main LogMeIn account page - you should see the name of the computer that you want to connect remotely too on this page - click the "Remote Control" button below that computer's name.

If the "Remote Control" button is not shown or clickable, it means that LogMeIn cannot establish a remote connection to the remote computer. Usually this is because either the remote computer is turned off (or in standby mode) or there is an Internet connection problem with the remote computer.

You might see the following pages (or something similar if you are connecting using a different web browser) - be sure to follow the prompts to allow LogMeIn to install the appropriate web browser plug-ins (these are necessary to allow you to access the remote computer)

Click the OK button if you receive a pop-up dialog box relating to the Information Bar (see above image). Then left-click on the Information Bar and choose "Install ActiveX Control" (see below image).

If you receive another pop-up dialog box prompting you to install the web browser plug-in (see below image), choose "Install"

While the connection is being established, you will see the following screen briefly

Before the connection can be completed, you will be required to authenticate to the remote computer. This is done using either a Computer Access Code that you created during the LogMeIn installation on the remote computer, or is done using Windows User Account credentials (i.e. username and password that you would normally use to log in to the remote computer if you were there and using it in person).

Computer Access Code:

Enter your LogMeIn Computer Access Code and then click the "Login" button.

If you see the above screen and want to log in to the remote computer using Windows User Account credentials, simply click the "More >>" button.

Windows User Account Credentials:

Enter your Windows username and password and then click the "Login" button.

If you see the above screen and want to log in to the remote computer using a Computer Access Code, simply click the "<< Less" button.

Once you have authenticated, you will see the following screen briefly:

Once the connection to the remote computer is complete, you will see the following screen:

(Please Note: You are now connected to the remote computer, but have not yet completed the process to be able to remote control the remote computer via LogMeIn. The screen you see above is the main page you see when you are connected to the remote computer.)

In order to remote control the computer you are now connected to, click the "Remote Control" button on the left hand side or the "Remote Control" link in the center of the screen (see above image).

* If this is the first time you are attempted to remote control to this remote computer (or the first time you are attempted to do so from the current computer you are physically located at), you will see the following screen:

Make sure the "Remember this and don't prompt again for this computer" option is checked, and then click the "OK" button.

If this is not the first time you are remote controlling this computer, or you clicked the "OK" button above, you will then see the following screen:

* At some point during the past few steps (or the next step) you might receive a pop-up dialog box or prompt from your firewall software. You should normally click whatever is necessary to tell the firewall to allow the connection to take place. If you are using Windows XP's Firewall, the pop-up dialog box will look like this:

You can simply click the "Unblock" button and proceed with this tutorial.

Once the remote control connection to the remote computer is established, you will see a screen similar to the one below. However, in the main area of the screen instead of seeing what is below, you will instead see your remote computer (either the desktop, open windows, or a log-in prompt). You can use your mouse and keyboard to interact with your remote computer as if you were physically in front of it and using it.

NOTE: If you are prompted to hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE (CTRL+ALT+DEL) to log in to the remote computer, you cannot use the keyboard on the local computer you are at to do so - refer to step 14a below.

Once you are connected to a remote computer in a remote control session via LogMeIn, a semi-transparent session window will appear:

You can safely close out of this window by clicking on the "X" in the upper right hand corner of this window.
Note: The window semi-hides itself when a mouse cursor is not actively hovering over it.

LogMeIn Remote Control Toolbar - If you look at the above image, you will see a black toolbar (with icons on the right hand side) running along the top of the remote screen. This is the LogMeIn Remote Control Toolbar.

From this toolbar, you can control several aspects of the remote computer:

CTRL+ALT+DELETE:

If you hit the CTRL+ALT+DEL keyboard combination on the actual computer you are using, it will perform that action on the local computer, and not the remote computer that you are connected to and remote controlling. In order to perform the CTRL+ALT+DEL keyboard combination on the remote computer, you will need to click the button circled in red below on the LogMeIn Remote Control Toolbar:

Full-Screen:

In order to have the remote computer's screen take up the entire screen of your local computer, you will need to click the button circled in red below on the LogMeIn Remote Control Toolbar. Simply maximizing your web browser will not allow the remote session to appear in full-screen view (although it will make it somewhat bigger than it appears when the web browser is not maximized).

Once you make the remote control session become full-screen, you will no longer see any of your local computer's screen. In order to access the LogMeIn Remote Control Toolbar now, you will have to move your cursor to very top center of your screen and hold it there for a second - a drop-down version of the LogMeIn Remote Control Toolbar will appear:

You can click the button circled in red above in order to end full-screen mode and return the remote control session to your web browser window.

Multiple Monitors:

If you have more than one monitor connected to your remote computer, you can use the button circled in red below to toggle between monitors:

Disconnect Remote Session:

When you are finished with your remote control session, it is VITAL that you do not shut down the remote computer (unless of course you want to do this). Shutting down the remote computer will prevent you from accessing it remotely unless it is physically turned on again. See more information about this in Step 15. In order to disconnect from your remote session without shutting down the remote computer, you can use the button circled in red below:

Additional Options:

There are many more options that you can explore. Some of them are available in the Options drop-down box from the LogMeIn Remote Control Toolbar. Further information is available in the LogMeIn Free - Getting Started Guide.

Disconnecting from LogMeIn Remote Control Session

When you are finished with the remote control session, it is VITAL that you do not shut down the remote computer (unless of course you want to do this). Shutting down the remote computer will prevent you from accessing it remotely unless it is physically turned on again. One accidental way of shutting down the remote computer when you are finished is using the Start Menu on the remote computer to perform a Shut Down - Turn Off procedure.

In order to disconnect from your remote session without shutting down the remote computer, you can use the button circled in red below:

After clicking this button, you will be prompted as to whether you want to disconnect or not - simply choose "Yes"

You will the be returned to the same screen you saw in Step 9 above.

Disconnecting from Remote Computer

After following step 15 above, you are still connected to the remote computer, although not actively connected in a remote control session. In order to disconnect from the remote computer, cick the "Disconnect" button on the left hand side and wait while your local computer disconnects from the remote computer.

You will now be returned to the same screen you saw in step 4 above.

Logging out of LogMeIn Account

Once you have followed steps 15 and 16, you can log out of your LogMeIn Account. To do so, simply click the "Log out" link in the upper right area of the screen (see image below).

You can now safely close your web browser. You have successfully disconnected from the remote computer and logged out of your LogMeIn Account.

If your password on the Blackberry device is made up of all numbers, do you press the ALT key when entering the password? If you don't, then your password is actually the letters corresponding to the number keys you enter on your Blackberry device. Determine these letters and try entering that as your password in the Blackberry Desktop Manager.

Locate the wireless connection icon in the system tray (located to the right of the taskbar at the bottom of your screen next to the clock – it is circled in red below)

If you don’t see the icon, you can click the left arrow button to expand the system tray

Right-click on the wireless connection icon on the system tray and then click on the Repair selection

You should then see a window open up in the middle of your screen which will flash a series of messages including the following:

And finally...

You can now click “Close” and hopefully your wireless connection should be restored.

Locate the image you want to work with (i.e. find it on the web page, within the word document, etc.)

Determine if you simply want to save this image to your computer for later use (Steps 3 to 5 below), or you want to manipulate this image right now (Steps 6 to 14 below).

If you want to simply save this image to your computer for later use, right-click on the image and select:

- Internet Explorer: "Save Picture As..."

- Mozilla Firefox: "Save Image As..."

- Other Applications: You will first have to copy this image into the Microsoft Paint application - follow the instructions starting at step 6 below

In the "Save Picture" Dialog box that appears, locate the appropriate folder that you want to save the image in (i.e. it should default to your "My Pictures" folder), type in the file name that you want to use for this image (it should default to whatever the file is named in its current location that you are pulling from), and ensure that the "Save as type" is correct (you generally want to use JPEG/JPG files, although GIF, BMP, PNG, and TIF/TIFF files are also relatively standard). Then click the "Save" button.

The picture has now been saved to your computer. You can later open this picture to view or edit, upload it elsewhere, email it to others, or do many more things with it. Be aware that many pictures that you capture in this manner might be copyrighted and subject to copyright laws and guidelines.

If you want to manipulate this image, or if you are attempting to save an image from an application other than your web browser, first launch Microsoft Paint by going to your Start Menu, and then browsing to All Programs -> Accessories -> Paint (or by clicking the Windows Logo Key and the "R" button at the same time to bring up the "Run" command box, and then entering "mspaint" and clicking the "OK" button)

Within the Microsoft Paint application, select the "Image" menu at the top, and then select "Attributes..." (or you can just hit CTRL+E within the Microsoft Paint program)

Set the "Width" attribute to "1" and the "Height" attribute to "1" and click the "OK" button

Now go back to where the image you want to capture/manipulate is located, right-click on the image, and select:

- Internet Explorer: "Copy"

- Mozilla Firefox: "Copy Image"

- Other Applications: You will have to determine the appropriate copy command

Once you do this, the image is copied to a Virtual Clipboard within the computer (where it is stored until you copy something else in which case the current image is overwritten). While that image is stored in the Virtual Clipboard on your computer, you can paste it into other applications, such as Microsoft Paint.

Now switch back to Microsoft Paint - select the "Edit" menu at the top, and then select "Paste" (or you can just hit CTRL+V within the Microsoft Paint program)

At this point, if you were simply following these instructions in order to capture and save an image from an application (Step 3 above) then you should select the "File" menu at the top, then select "Save" and then save the image on to your computer (for more help navigating the "Save As" dialog box, refer to step 4 above.

Now that the image is within Microsoft Paint, you can manipulate it. Microsoft Paint is a basic image editing application, so the amount of manipulation you can do is limited. However, you can follow these steps and paste the image into another image editing application (i.e. Adobe Photoshop Elements, etc.) if you have one installed in order to do more advanced editing.

In order to resize the image within Microsoft Paint, select the "Image" menu at the top, and then select "Stretch/Skew..." (or you can just hit CTRL+W within the Microsoft Paint program)

Within this dialog box, you can adjust the "Stretch" properties to a smaller or larger percentage to decrease or increase the size of the image (Note: when increasing the size of the image, the larger you increase the more distorted/pixelated the image will look)

If you make a mistake while working within Microsoft Paint, or just want to undo the last action that you did, you can select the "Edit" menu at the top and then select "Undo" (or you can just hit CTRL+Z within the Microsoft Paint program)

When you are finished manipulating your image and want to save it, select the "File" menu at the top, then select "Save" and then save the image on to your computer (for more help navigating the "Save As" dialog box, refer to step 4 above).

Split domain implementations, while not recommended*,
can address very specific client needs for a hosted enviornment. They
can be used for the simulataneous hosting of basic and exchange email,
hosted exchange accounts in conjunction with an internal or third party
